Katie Ledecky secured eighth Olympic gold in the women’s 1500 m freestyle and finished with a time of 15:30.02, setting an Olympic record.

Natalie Coughlin presented the opening swim session with “les trois coups” in a symbolic gesture at 2024 Paris Olympics.

As the race began, Ledecky expectedly was leading by 0.11 seconds ahead of her own world record at the 500m mark.

In the past, Katie Ledecky had won bronze in the women’s 400 m freestyle and is now all ready to compete in the women’s 4x200m freestyle relay on Thursday. 

Katie Ledecky's next solo event is the women’s 800m freestyle, with initial heats on Friday, August 2nd, and the final on Saturday, August 3rd.
